Change the Way You Think ...

You are not an old dog - you can learn new tricks - to survive in business you need to learn new tricks.

Statistics clearly show that five years after starting their business less than ten percent of owners manage to exceed or even achieve the goals and lifestyle that they expected when they first started their business.

This is not necessarily because they didn't put in the time and effort or take a few risks ... more that the problem lies in their self limiting beliefs about themselves and their businesses which seriously constrains their actions and sabotages their dreams.

As both an individual and a business owner you already have within you two of the most effective means available to achieve long term success ... the ability to question how and why you do what you do, have done, and should be doing ... and, most significantly, the ability to learn from others.

As mentioned in my November 2010 tip - if you are totally willing to be a "learn it all", as opposed to a "know it all", type of person then there are literally no limits to what you can accomplish within your business and within your life.

I know everything I need to know about running my business - now and in the future - so I don't want or need any help.

Who do I know who can help me ensure that my business will continue to thrive for the next five years and beyond?

I am happy with my business as it is.

How can I make my business considerably more successful than it is?

I am my business and my business is me.

How can I get my business to operate without me?

I can't rely on my team to do it right.

How can I gain total confidence in my team?

No one can do "it" as well as I can.

How can I get my team to do "it" better than I can? ... so I don't have to do "it".

I am busy all the time and work long hours.

How can I make better use of my time?

I work hard all the time.

How can I work smarter?

I am the key to all relationships with my suppliers and clients.

How can I get my team to accept more responsibility for supplier and client relationships?

I have a reasonable income.

How can I get the profits of my business to more than compensate for the time, effort and risk that I have invested? ... and then provide a comfortable lifestyle and a secure future?

I compete mainly on price.

How can I compete in ways that price is not the primary factor to my clients?

I find it difficult to compete.

How can I consistently beat the competition?

I am constantly seeking new customers/clients.

How can I get my existing customers/clients to use my products and services more often?

I work "in" my business most of the time.

How can I learn to work "on" my business?


By shifting your thinking from "limiting beliefs" statements to "higher level questions" you can change your attitude, change your focus, and in consequence elevate the decisions you make and the actions you take ... allowing you to achieve the lifestyle, life and future you seek.

You already have one of the most powerful vehicles needed to achieve this - your business - with the right mindset your business will begin working much more effectively - making you more money and freeing up your time - giving you greater freedom of choice.
